Alvin loves guitars and saw his first “real” rock show, Molly Hatchet, at 8 years old. He was immediately hooked, with his fists pumping and screaming “Flirtin’ with disaster!” until they finally played it. Getting his own guitar at age 12 began Alvin’s guitar journey in earnest, and he has played with Danae & the Grind, 3 LB Cut, The Fennville Experts, HJLB, Whiskey Richard & the Bangalongs locally and regionally. As a member of The Fat Animals Alvin feels he has found musical compatriotism like he has never known. Challenge, fulfillment, depth, emotion, soul, and gettin’ weird with it. Somehow that spells THE FAT ANIMALS.
When Phil’s dad bought him a guitar and showed him how to play at age 12, his early influences were bands like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin so the guitar quickly became his obsession. An early Led Zepplin video loaned to him by a soon-to-be brother in-law solidified Phil’s passion for rock guitar, and over the decades he played with the well-known local and regional bands Torture, Bad Oscar, SXX, and Big Love Band. Phil now finds himself with 4 amazing musicians that pour heart, soul, and mystery into the wonderful sounds they create together. “The Song Remains the Same” remains in Phil’s possession and continues to be a source of inspiration.
